About

Hair is my thing; my first memories are sitting on the salon floor picking up ‘bobby pins’ as my Mum busily dressed up elaborate chignons and curls, I suspect that is when I fell in love with hair. It was intoxicating, the smells which were pretty strong in those days of early cosmetic development, the friendly banter and those beautiful pieces of art that appeared to float out the salon door and last for an entire week until the next visit.

But being a Hairdresser had and to some extent still has a stigma attached and although I was passionate about becoming a Hairdresser, I was encouraged to have a different career, luckily more or less I stuck to my original plan with a unique twist.

30 plus years later I am managing to continue my love of Hairdressing while adding on a few extra experiences. I am a Scientist with a PhD, MBA with a few undergraduates degrees and a Sassoon Trained Colourist, I guess I am the SS of Hair. I spent close to two decades working in R&D both developing and formulating hair products as well as researching Hair and Beauty Professionals habits and practices all over the world. I lived and work in locations across Europe, US and Asia witnessing giant step-changes in the industry.

I am still a practicing Hairdresser working across media and privately while being actively involved in Professional Education and will be popping up as a Mentor on Mastered.Com, colour accelerator in collaboration with Wella Professionals; Master Color Expert.

I am also working with Moroccanoil to further develop Industry Education and consulting with them on their product innovation.

My blog is intended for all who have an interest in hair, Professionals and non-Professionals. I have always aimed to help Hairdressers and peers unravel the truth about hair and to simplify complex theories with my additional insights. I am independent, primarily unbiased but yes naturally with some personal preferences that I will call out. My aim is to continue my passion of hair and share some knowledge on the way.
